Functions as a collection and reference center for plant biodiversity to support teaching, research and documentation of local flora. Various collections of plant specimens that have been dried, preserved, labeled and systematically arranged are kept here.
drying zone – To ensure the drying process is more effective, this zone is usually equipped with a herbarium dryer/plant dryer, plant press, dehumidifier and air conditioning. Temperature and humidity control is very important because an environment that is too humid can cause fungal growth on the specimen.
The Identification & Research Zone is a space used to examine, identify and study plant specimens in more detail. In this zone, specimens can be observed using a stereo microscope and a compound microscope, while digital cameras are used to record images for documentation and reference purposes. A computer workstation assists in data storage, information retrieval and specimen analysis. This space is also equipped with inspection lights that provide appropriate lighting so that small features on the specimens can be seen more clearly.\
Zon Digitalisasi merupakan ruang yang digunakan untuk menukarkan koleksi spesimen herbarium fizikal kepada rekod digital supaya lebih mudah disimpan, dicapai dan dikongsi. Spesimen boleh diimbas menggunakan high-resolution herbarium scanner atau flatbed scanner, manakala kamera overhead boleh digunakan untuk mengambil gambar spesimen dalam kualiti tinggi. Computer workstation pula digunakan untuk mengurus, menyusun dan memasukkan maklumat spesimen ke dalam pangkalan data. Setiap spesimen juga boleh diberikan barcode atau QR code menggunakan printer dan scanner khas bagi memudahkan proses pengenalpastian serta penjejakan. Semua imej dan maklumat koleksi kemudiannya boleh disimpan dengan lebih selamat menggunakan NAS/server, sekali gus membantu membina koleksi herbarium digital yang sistematik dan mudah diakses untuk pengajaran, penyelidikan dan rujukan.
The Specimen Preparation Zone is a space to prepare and process plants before they are used as herbarium specimens. In this space, specimens will be arranged and prepared using a spacious work table, while a plant press is used to press and maintain the shape of the plant. Glue/adhesive dispensers help attach specimens to herbarium paper, while label printers are used to provide labels and specimen information. Cutting tools are used to cut and prepare the required plant parts, while digital scales can be used to record sample weights. Sinks and washing areas are also provided to clean equipment and handle specimens more systematically. Overall, this zone ensures that each specimen can be prepared neatly, orderly and ready for the drying, identification and storage processes.
