FACULTY BACKGROUND
In 1997 in conjunction with UPSI was officially established as Malaysia's education-focused public university (upgraded from the Institute Pendidikan Sultan Idris IPSI). At the same time, the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) was created to provide science and technology education programmes.
As part of a university-wide restructuring aimed at strengthening UPSI's international profile, the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) was officially renamed the Faculty of Science and Mathematics (FSM). The new name reflected a clearer academic identity centred on science and mathematics disciplines on 1st june 2010.
