Programmes offered by FSM are within the framework of science and mathematics.

The main goal of each programme is to improve and strengthen the knowledge and skills of future graduates/teachers,

and to prepare them in the field of science and mathematics education for secondary and tertiary institution.

FSM OVERVIEW

The Faculty of Science and Mathematics (FSM) at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI)—one of Malaysia’s top public education universities—has evolved since 1997 to become a leader in science and mathematics education. Renamed in 2010 to reflect its focus, FSM is committed to delivering high-quality academic programs, innovative research, and meaningful community engagement.

As part of one of the best public universities in Malaysia, FSM equips future educators, researchers, and professionals with strong theoretical knowledge and practical skills for secondary and tertiary education. Guided by its motto, “Nurturing Creative Minds,” FSM consistently achieves national and international recognition for excellence in research and innovation.

The faculty actively contributes to nation-building through programs such as the Perak Expo for Young Scientists (PEYS) and the BITARA school project. FSM continues to play a vital role in shaping a knowledgeable, skilled, and innovative society.
