THE PROGRAMME :
Malaysia is amongst the twelve megadiversity, which promotes many studies on taxonomy and animal rehabilization. This program consists of four modules, which are conducted sequencially in August. The modules are based on exploration and observation of wildlife, recreation with elephants, rehabilization of turtles, plant diversity, Orang Asli and traditional sports. The camp sites are chosen based on the uniqueness of forest diversity and activities. Participants can choose any of four packages: Package A consists of four modules, Package B has three modules, Package C has two modules, and Package D has one module.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS :
Malaysian forest has so much to explore. In this program, we choose four camp sites that represent the megadiversities. Royal Belum forest is among the oldest in the world that has not been fully explored. Through this summer camp, youth will get to explore and observe wildlife and tropical plants, jungle tracking with experience botanists, live free from gadgets, work together as team, learn how essential survival skills and making bamboo raft for water sports.
Participants will also get to experience sustainability living with aborigines in Perak, which still maintain their way of life, including the medicinal plants used by them.
The most youth would like to experience are elephant and turtle rehabilitation in Kuala Gandah and Cherating, Pahang. They could touch and bathe the elephants and save the turtles. The best moment they could experience is watching the rhythmic light from the huge number of reies. Moreover, they will also experience to stay, make friends and work together with youth from different countries.
Youth are strongly encourage to be in this summer camp to develop their knowledge on tropical rainforest, survival skills and experiencing the atmosphere of Malaysia. In addition, the youth will bring the message of unity on the awareness of biodiversity conservation.
